Viva México!

Hallo ihr Lieben,

wir haben uns verliebt! In Mexiko!
Oder besser gesagt in das mexikanische Essen...

Am Freitag sind wir in unserem airbnb Apartment im Stadtteil Condesa angekommen. Wir haben vor unserem Trip nach Mexiko City im Internet herausgefunden, dass dies wohl ein momentan angesagter Stadtteil ist. Und wir haben uns auch gleich wohl gefühlt. 
Die Wohnung in der wir übernachten ist zwar total schön, aaaaaaber einfach sehr kalt. Man muss dazu sagen, dass die Temperaturen in Mexiko Stadt das ganze Jahr über sehr mild sind. Es wird eigentlich nie kälter als 15° C und im Sommer sind es durchschnittlich um die 25°C. Das kommt daher, dass die Stadt auf 2.310 Metern liegt. 
Die Häuser haben sehr dicke Wände und sind nicht gedämmt, zumindest die traditionellen. Und da es auch keine Heizung gibt ist das Raumklima sogar kälter als die Außentemperatur. Das ist gar nichts für mich.../

We fell in love. With Mexico. Or better said with the mexican food.

On Friday we arrived in our airbnb apartment in the district Condesa. Before starting our trip to Mexico City (DF) we found out that this region is very hip at the moment. And we both felt ourselves at home...
The apartment in which we stayed was very nice, but really cold. But you have to say that the temperatures in DF are very mild the whole year. It doesn't get colder than 15°C, and in summer it's 25°C average. The reason for that is the elevation of 2,310 meters.
The houses have very thick walls and they are not insulated. There were no heaters, and that's why the inside temperature was lower than the outside temperature. Not nice for Anja ;)/

Deswegen haben wir uns gleich am Freitag in einem ganz tollen Restaurant von innen aufgewärmt.
Wir können euch sagen, es war einfach nur köstlich. 
Wir haben ein ganz fabelhafte Pilzsuppe gegessen, Kimi hatte dann eine Lasagne (ok, das ist nicht typisch mexikanisch) und ich hatte Empanadas gefüllt mit Hibiskusblüten, überbacken mit Käse und dazu gab es Salsa Verde. 
Das war wirklich mega lecker. Und die Kellner haben sich alle Mühe mit uns gegeben.
Wir haben hier erlebt, dass sehr viele Mexikaner kein Englisch sprechen. Und wir können ja leider auch noch kein (wirkliches) Spanisch. Macht aber gar nichts. Die meisten Mexikaner reden einfach weiter, und schauen dich die ganze Zeit mit großen Augen an, als ob du sie dann irgendwann verstehst. Es ist herrlich und macht einfach nur Spaß.
Am nächsten Morgen waren wir dann sogar bei einem Optiker um Kontaktlinsen für mich zu kaufen. Kimi hat nicht schlecht gestaunt, als ich (mehr oder weniger) der Frau erklärt habe was ich brauche usw./

That's why we went straightaway on Friday to a very nice restaurant to warm ourselves up from the inside.
We can just say it was delicious.
First we had a really tasty mushroom soup, I had a lasagne after that (ok, not typically Mexican) and Anja empanadas filled with hibiscus, baked with cheese, accompanied with salsa verde.
That was all so delicious, and the waiters were really courteous.
We noticed that most of the Mexicans do not speak English at all. Despite us not speaking that much Spanish yet either, things still seem to work out. The most people just keep on talking and look at you after that with big large eyes, as if waiting that you'll understand them eventually, which is totally funny.
The next morning we went to buy contact lenses for Anja. I was surprised how well (more or less) she managed to tell the lady what she wanted.

Nach dem Kontaktlinsenkauf sind wir Museum für Anthropologie gewesen. Wir konnten unter Anderem einige Dinge der Mayas sehen, was wirklich interessant war. Nur ist es sehr schade, dass so gut wie alle Erklärungen nur auf Spanisch verfügbar sind. Eigentlich wollten wir danach noch ins Chapultepec Castle. Leider waren wir zu spät dran. 
Dafür haben wir dann ein paar Leckereien versucht: Tlayuda, Aqua fresca und Tacos con pescado (mit Fisch)./

After a visit to the optician, we went to the museum of anthropology. Among other things, we got to see Mayan artifacts, which was really interesting. Too bad that all the information was only written out in Spanish. Originally we wanted to got the Chapultepec castle, but were unfortunately too late. To cover for that, we tried out some treats: tlayudas, aqua fresca and tacos with fish.

Am nächsten Tag sind wir mit dem Turibus durch Mexiko City. Unser Halt war dann in der Altstadt, dem Centro Historico. Dort gibt es viele alte und schöne Gebäude zu sehen, und hier spielt sich auch das Leben von Einheimischen und Touristen ab./

On the next day we took the Turibus through Mexico City. Our stop was then the old city, Centro Historico. This is also where you'll be able to see many old buildings and where the locals as well as the tourists run around.
