Next stop: Florida!

Wir haben's überlebt!!! Eine Woche New York, in der South Bronx! Heute ist unser letzter Tag in New York. Passend dazu schüttet es draußen wie aus Eimern. /

We've made it! One week of New York, in South Bronx! Today is our last day in New York, and it just happens to rain hard outside.


Am Donnerstag waren wir den ganzen Tag im Central Park, und haben einfach nur den Tag und die Sonne genossen. Es ist wirklich sehr schön dort. Aber "echte" Natur gefällt uns besser. Man kann dort wirklich prima laufen gehen. Allerdings muss man ständig auf die Fußgänger, Radfahrer und auch Autos aufpassen. Ist halt einfach ein Touristenmagnet. /

On Thursday we spent the whole day in Central Park, and just enjoyed the sun. Even though it was really nice and relaxing, we still prefer the "real" nature. You could go for a good run in the park, just watch out for the numerous passers-by, bicyclists, and cars on the road. Central Park is another tourist magnet of New York City.

 

  

Umso toller fanden wir unsere "Entdeckung" der Roosevelt Island. Das ist eine sehr kleine Insel,  die zwischen Manhattan und Long Island liegt. Man kann mit einer Seilbahn (die man mit der U-Bahn Karte bezahlen kann) dort hin kommen. Die Fahrt allein ist natürlich schon super. Man hat einen genialen Blick auf die Straßen, den man sonst wahrscheinlich so nicht bekommt, und man kann ganz still und heimlich in Wohnungen der Hochhäuser bestaunen. /

What we found out to be really great, was the Roosevelt Island between Manhattan and Long Island. We took the cable car (included in the MTA/Subway ticket) there, which alone offered great beautiful views of the town. You'll get a rare view of the busy streets, which otherwise would probably be impossible to get elsewhere, and you'll quietly pass the nearby highrises and their offices and apartments.

Auf der Insel befindet sich an der Südspitze ein wunderschön angelegter kleiner Park, der Four Freedoms Park. Der Name entstand auf Grund eines Zitats von Franklin D. Roosevelt, was man auch in dem Park verewigt hat. 
Wir haben uns dort auf eine Mauer gesetzt, und sicher 2 Stunden mit Beobachten, Erzählen und Lachen verbracht. Es war herrlich./

The southernmost tip of the Roosevelt Island is the Four Freedoms Park. The name comes from Franklin D. Roosevelt, a quote which is written down to a stone wall in the park as well.
We spent probably 2 hours just sitting on the wall, enjoying the peace and views, and telling stories, laughing. We had a great time.
